Making juices is just as fun as cooking. You can mix different styles of fruits, vegetables, and even throw in certain spice and herbs. My favorite combinations are usually a few different types of fruits, but throwing in vegetables really ads to the fun and also makes healthy juices.
Here are some ideas to add some funkiness to your drinks.
Beets – beets sound gross and you probably hated them when you were a kid. However, these are a sweet, tasty fruit full of vitamins, minerals and other healthy stuff. They go great with apples and carrots, or even oranges and berries. They are best used raw, and if you don’t have a juicer, you can grate them into a blender. The only issue is they can stain things, so be careful not to get then your fancy white dress shirt before a business meeting.
Spinach – spinach, and especially baby spinach, is a killer additive for juices, and by killer, I mean killer good. It packs a serious health punch, so much so that you can’t eat it everyday because you will overload on certain minerals. Baby spinach is best cause its sweeter, but any type will do. The juice that comes out, although flavorful, can also be overpowered by many fruit juices. For this reason, it makes a great green addition to your favorite fruit juices, and is great if you are looking for juices for weight loss.
Mushrooms – people rarely consider muchrooms in juices. In fact, you might even wonder how much juice is actually in a mushroom. If you have a juicer, you’ll find out there is a surprising amount. They add tons of flavor to vegetable juices, especially a V8 style juice. They are also very healthy, but their real draw is the unique flavor they add.
Juices are all about experimenting, so try some of these juices out, and see what types of funky new flavors you can create.
