How to peel and cut Pineapple

With most fruit easy to handle and slice, pineapple is a little different. These easy to follow steps will guide you through the whole process of peeling and slicing pineapple so you can enjoy this wonderful fruit. It’s very simple and it takes just a few minutes.

When buying pineapple, look for those brightly coloured with fresh-looking deep green leaves. Avoid fruit with bruises, brown leaves or mouldy spots.

  • First, cut-off both top and bottom ends of the fruit using a sharp knife.
  • Start peeling the pineapple by removing of the skin/edges. Take the knife and cut the edge of the pineapple in a downward motion. Continue this procedure until you have removed the entire outer layer of the pineapple.
  • Turn the pineapple over and look for the core/centre. Place the knife just off centre just to miss the core. Continue cutting around the core until all you have left is the core.
  • Next you can dice, chop or slice the pineapple in any way you like.
